plugging away

the flashcards in the codecademy app can be helpful. need to write in a paper notebook when i’m tired.

day four

-i should do the blog posts earlier, around 5 or 6am my time, gmt+8

-substack every week? post that after the weekend, so goes live monday, weekly recap

-maybe i’m wasting time on fundamentals, redoing noob stuff, “what is a for loop, what is a boolean” maybe try harder stuff to stretch my capabilities, go python, javascript, build something

day three, context sweep

so i take my daughter to montessori mon to fri 0900 to 1200. the class is too far away for me to go home so i sit at the waiting area picnic table for 3 hours. signed up for codecademy, this is my time window.

parenting is hard, who would have thought. asa, andreia’s mom, works a night shift so i take care of our daughter most of the day.

right now i’m pecking this out on my phone but maybe i’ll get a cheap netbook while i learn to code on a park bench.

there’s a bit in neil gaiman’s sandman that stuck in my head, emperor augustus had a dream that once a year he could have some time to himself away from court, time to make plans unseen by gods and men. a core memory, i should name that. bardo time?
